New Course

Beautiful, soft and well maintained single track trails through old growth forest with waterfalls, lakes, cascading creeks, and views of the Puget Sound, the surrounding islands, and on clear days the Cascade and Olympic Mountain Ranges, including Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier and Mt. St Helens. About 8400ft of elevation gain on the loop course.

Every year the race course has changed-- either in big or small ways-- but the course has always been hard(well maybe not the Snow Route year) and super scenic. This year is no different. But there are major changes to the course, making it the hardest version of the course since the early years when the distance was closer to 55k. I've added two new climbs and some cool trails that we've either never used before or haven't used since the old days and kept all of the best parts like Cascade Falls(twice from two different ways), the "Powerline Climb"(but it's now steeper) and trails around all the lakes and of course the summit of Mt Constitution. I added a section I'm calling Gnome Village, a loop around Twin Lakes and now you'll run down the steep trail that goes from the summit ridge down to Mountain Lake that you used to run up and you'll run down from the top of Mt Pickett on the trail you used to go up plus I added in two new trails in that area. It's gonna be great!

The will be four spots(all four aid stations and at the finish) on the course where we will be enforcing cutoff times: Mountain Landing(mile 6.4) at 10:00am, Mt Pickett(14.6) at NOON, North Arch(20.6) at 1:30pm, and Mt Constitution Summit(25.8) at 3:30pm--if a runner does not make it to these locations before these cutoff times they may be removed from the race for their safety and for the safety of our volunteers and to keep the race on schedule for our permit and plans.

Below are the course maps, course description and elevation profile. Please study these and print them out and bring them with you-- the course will be well marked but ultimately it is the runner's responsibility to know the course.
